Teamwork. Unity.

These are the most important components of our journey in life. As the saying goes, “No man is an island.”  We cannot survive in this world without a group, a team, or somebody who can help us in our life.

Before, I really couldn’t appreciate working in groups or teams, because I consider myself as intrapersonal. An intrapersonal person is somebody who works better alone or more independent.  But, lately, I have been able to see the value of teamwork.

Last month, my class participated in a competition against the other classes. We really worked hard, practiced every day, and gave the best that we could. Luckily, at the end of the contest, we were proclaimed as CHAMPIONS.

From that moment I have seen the importance of unity in life, but my discovery and realizations don’t end there.

Last week, my school participated in a quiz bee opposing the other high schools in the city. I was chosen to be one of the delegates for the said event, together with the representatives from higher year levels. I really studied hard and almost memorized the content of the whole book. I was so prepared for the quiz bee.

The quiz bee came; our team was able to answer all the questions in the easy round. Then, the average round came and sadly, we got one of the answers wrong. We still didn’t lose hope.
…We answered a question right.
… We answered a question wrong.
The cycle just went on.

The proclamation of the results finally went.  We wanted to win. We were hoping for the best, but, you can’t have everything that you want. I was sad. I gave my best. I aimed to be at the top. I thought that joining in that competition was a big nonsense, a big waste of time because at the end of it, we still lost. But, I learned something, and that is the value of TEAMWORK, UNITY AND COOPERATION.

The famous quote, “No man is an island,” made much more sense to me. You cannot survive on your own. Aside from giving your 110% in each of your tasks, you also need to work hand in hand with others.

Remember, you can succeed in life with a team.
